Robert Marcus2015 Dinner honoree
Robert Marcus and his family are longtime residents of the Upper West Side and are well known in the community for their hospitality, generous support of many of our most important institutions and their commitment to Ohav Sholom. Professionally, Robert is the founder and president of RunIt Systems, a successful software company with an international client base.
Robert served as President of Congregation Ohav Sholom for six years from 2007-2013. During that time he introduced many improvementsincluding renovations and numerous repairs to the building as well as approval for a security grant which helped fund new bullet-proof front doors that operate on timers and motion-detection. During his tenure the heating and air conditioning were upgraded in addition to the both the phone and computer systems. He dramatically improved the shul’s financial position as he single handedly arranged for both the West Side Sephardic Synagogue and PlayTogether childcare to call Ohav Sholom their home. Robert modestly improved the infrastructure that Ohav Sholom needed for it to continue to be the small but dependable sanctuary, literally, for the Jewish community on the Upper West Side.
During his free time Robert volunteers as a tutor for Manhattan Jewish Experience in their one-on-one learning program but his pride and joy are his wife, Deborah and his three active boys, Max Gideon and Ezra.
